Check in 7 minutes whether AI can actually solve your task
Take a real everyday task, run it through free AI, and honestly evaluate the result using a checklist
- 1.Open ChatGPT at chatgpt.com and log into a free account (you only need an email, no credit card required).
The free tier gives you access to the GPT-4o mini model - enough for most text tasks: writing, editing, analysis, ideas.
ChatGPT ↗About this tool - 2.Write down your real task in one or two sentences. For example: «write a polite and short email to a client declining a discount» or «summarize this article into three key points for a presentation».
The more specific the task, the more accurate the answer. Do not upload client personal data, passwords, or account numbers into the AI - ChatGPT may use them for training.
- 3.Copy the prompt below into the chat. Replace [YOUR TASK] with your task description, [OUTPUT FORMAT] - with the desired output format (for example: email, bullet list, table), [LANGUAGE] - with Russian.
This prompt forces the AI to not only complete the task but also honestly state its limitations - so you learn to realistically assess its capabilities.
ChatGPT ↗About this toolPromptI need help with this task: [YOUR TASK]. Output format: [OUTPUT FORMAT]. Language: [LANGUAGE]. After completing the task, rate your confidence in the result from 1 to 10 and briefly list: 1) what you are unsure about, 2) what a human should double-check, 3) what you could NOT do in this task.
What this prompt doesThe English prompt asks the AI to: complete your task, produce the result in the desired format and language, and then honestly rate itself on a scale from 1 to 10 and list its weak spots. Replace [YOUR TASK] with your task description, [OUTPUT FORMAT] - with the format (for example «email text» or «3 bullet points»), [LANGUAGE] - with «Russian». - 4.Read the answer and check it against three criteria: 1) facts - accurate or confidently made up? 2) format - does it match what you asked for? 3) readiness - can you use it right away or does it need manual editing?
The most common pitfall is hallucinations: the AI invents facts, numbers, and sources with full confidence. Always verify specific data manually.
- 5.If the result is useful, ask a follow-up in the same chat: «cut it in half», «make the tone more formal», «add a variant for the second case». If it is unusable, rephrase the task more specifically or try Claude.ai (better for long texts) or Gemini (gemini.google.com, better for working with Google documents).
In 70% of cases, the first result is not the limit. Reformulating the task with added context («writing for my boss», «need to fit in 500 characters») dramatically improves quality.
ChatGPT ↗About this tool - 6.If the result works for you, copy the entire prompt with your substitutions into your notes or a separate file. This is your reusable template for similar tasks.
A collection of 5 to 10 working prompts covers most everyday tasks: emails, summaries, ideas, editing, explaining complex things in simple words.
