- 1.Open chat.openai.com in your browser. If you find a similar link in search results - check the address bar: it must be OpenAI's official domain. Have a phone number ready (USA, Canada and other countries are supported).
The official website does not ask for a card during registration. A credit card is never required for the free version.

Use a work or permanent email address so you do not lose access when switching devices. Two-factor verification is optional but adds security.

The SMS will arrive within 2-3 minutes. If it does not come, wait another minute and click 「Resend code」. Check your spam folder - SMS sometimes ends up there.

The Plus screen appears to offer you the paid version. The free account already has everything you need - at least for your first useful dialogue.

Type your question right away - you will get an answer within 10-30 seconds depending on server load. If the text is very long, enter it in parts or paste it.
